A climb you rode into along a long flat valley used to slip past the film, which went and celebrated a smaller one instead.
The film picks the longest climb of each day and counts it in. When the big climb came at the end of a flat valley, it was picking the wrong one. The valley counted as part of the climb, which dragged the average grade under what the film calls a climb at all, and a smaller one from earlier in the day won instead.
It is measured from where the road tilts up now, not from back down the valley. So the biggest climb of your day is the one the film stops for.
